SAD NEWS: GENERAL HOSPITAL Mourns the Death of Craig Sjodin

Fans who saw the dedication to Craig Sjodin at the end of the Sept. 27 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL may not have immediately known who the man was, but they’ve definitely seen his work as he was employed as a photographer for the soap for many years. His obituary at Legacy.com reports that Sjodin died at the age of 67 on Sept. 15 as a result of injuries suffered in a bicycle accident.

Born in Evanston, Ill, Sjodin worked as a still photographer for ABC TV and Disney for 39 years. So if you’ve ever seen pictures from ABC series like THE BACHELOR, THE BACHELORETTE, BACHELOR IN PARADISE, GREY’S ANATOMY, NASHVILLE, or DANCING WITH THE STARS, it’s likely that the photo credit read: “Craig Sjodin/ABC.”

Sjodin’s name was also on decades of photos from GH, including both galleries of the soap’s many, many stars as well as still photos of scenes from the countless episodes. He also shot images for the primetime spinoff NIGHT SHIFT.

Sadly, Sjodin had retired only just last month, in August, and was planning on traveling with his family. An avid cyclist, he would often ride with his family and would often travel hundreds of miles a week. Sjodin is survived by his wife of 30 years, Esther, his son Ryan, sisters Brenda, Nancy, and Linda, as well as other relatives.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
